Kiz Club

Games, activities, fun stories are the subject of downloadable pages for early learners. Children can explore the ABS’s, phonics, topics, crafts and stories. The practical hands on activities make this site particularly interesting and particularly useful.

Yak’s Corner

This site published by the Detroit Free Press is "America’s Coolest Magazine for Kids". Children will find a wealth of articles and activities about people of the world, animals, cars and more. There are recipes for Yak snacks, Yak Adventures to follow and cool crafts.

Count On

This is a British math education site with hundreds of innovative and interactive Internet resources. Parents and students will find games, interesting facts, newsletter, links, assessment information and all kinds of materials. This is a great place for making math fun and exciting.

Giggle Poetry

This is a great site with all kinds of fun and educational poetry-related resources. There are fill in the blank poems, "Read ‘Em Rate ‘Em Winners, Ask a Poet, and Poetry Contests. Children can visit the Poetry Class for instruction on writing 26 different types of poems including acrostics, backwards poems, funny founds and giggle raps. There are tongue twisters, rhyming riddles and theatre poems to perform.

The Adventures of Science Bob

Bob Pflugjelder teaches children about the intricacies of science with his fabulous mobile laboratory online Web site. In addition to virtual tour of the Science Mobile, you’ll find 14 different experiments on topics as varied as optical illusions to exploding lunch bags. There are all kinds of science and all kinds of fun here.

The Art Room

This site was created by Dr. Craig Roland, Assistant Professor of Art Education at the University of Florida. Students will find advice and encouragement to think about their art work. The site includes project ideas, art facts through art scrabble, treasure hunts and other fun activities, a gallery of students’ work from all over the world and a library of books with artistic elements. This is a great place for artists of all ages.

Spin and spell in an interactive game that turns the task of spelling into a colorful adventure. Working in pairs or independently, students choose from an array of common images and click on letters to spell the names of objects. The site provides feedback in the form of cheers or encouragement to try again.

There are tips for writing short stories and dialogue, on character development, and letter writing, and on editing and publishing. The site has Idea File a writing tutor, book reviews, writing contests and so much more for all kinds of writers.

Science News for kids has the latest science news in the form of articles written specifically for kids. This site provides information about topics from agriculture to weather as well as games, puzzles and hands-on science activities.

New York Philharmonic Kidzone

The New York Philharmonic Orchestra has developed a great site for young musicians. Here they can meet musicians, soloists, and conductors in interviews that describe their training and their own musical heroes. They can go to the Instrument Storage Room and learn about the many instruments used by the orchestra, and then visit the Instrument Lab and learn how to make their own. Children can write music, go on a scavenger hunt, and do much more in the Games area.
